Stepping in Almost White

A Card made for the Almost White challenge at Creative Harmony. The Base Cardstock has to be white or ivory, no more than two other colours, using very little of one of those. You are allowed to enter twice, any kind of papercrafts,  but one entry must be a card or a tag. You have until 23rd of September to enter for a chance to win the great prizes she has on offer.

This is my first attempt at a Side Step Dresser card. I've seen them around blogland a few times and liked them, but was inspired by Bab's Baby Shower Dresser Card to give it a go- it was quick, easy and a lot of fun. I followed the YouTube Tutorial to make this, you can find it HERE

She also has some great pictures of the Sock Monkey Baby Shower they held, and a Diaper Bike (new to me), if anyone looking for Baby Shower inspiration.

Sorry the pix aren't up to much again, above is photo Hubby took, the two below are scanned. I used pearlized white cardstock, I think, Bazzil. The 'hanger', 'door handles', and name plaque are chipboard pieces (Papermania) coloured with versamagic chalk inks. I've used a headpin with pearl bead as the wire for the 'hanger'. The pink card is recycled from the back of an old card, is pretty shimmery, pearled. The lace and bow are stash and the stickers were painted white with acrylic paint.

I Got A Round Tuit In A Krafty Way.

Every time a see an image coloured on Kraft I say 'I really must get round tuit'. Well now I have. It's been a long haul though lol. Annemaritta  kindly sent me the Kraft Card-stock, but it was a while before I got further than occasionally looking at the images I'd printed on it. When I did start colouring I found it frustrating - I don't have prisma colour pencils and mine are perhaps just not soft enough. Then a couple of days ago 'the penny dropped' and I realised that I'd get that nice pastel pencils look people talk about....if I used my pastel pencils. It was a pleasure to colour and I even had a go at a sky background at last (another round tuit ticked off). For a great sky background tute see Dorcas' here

I used some old ready creased cardstock in blue and cut it with a large Go Kreate scalloped Circle, cut a smaller circle in peach. I cut some fancy corner from scraps of the blue cardstock to sit behind the Image. I cut a little banner from printed ribbon, and added gems, a bow and a cute little giraffe holding a blankie button.

Tall Baby Card.

My neice was a tall baby, but that's another story lol. This started as a white on white card. The stamps are small though and you couldn't see them too well embossed in white. I rubbed over them with pink shimmery chalk, also outlined the card with a slightly deeper shade of pink shimmer chalk. Sorry the images are still so awful ....I promise it looks much better in person.

The dots are made with a glitter paste, quite thick so leaves a good raised blob, they are blobbed onto white mulberry paper. The aperture card has been sitting in my stash for many years. I do like them but rarely use pre-creased cards now. I added three little stick on pearls along the top and bottom edge.

Amber's Crafts & Stuff #1: Stashbuster/Anything Goes

Amber's Crafts & Stuff launches her Challenge Blog today with Stashbuster/Anything Goes. Now I know everyone loves Anything Goes, and who hasn't got some old stash they really, really should have used by now. Go dig it out and join us in a fun Challenge here
I used up a fine amount of stash on this card, the youngest of my old stash is the House Mouse decoupage, which is about 1yr old and I'm extremely miserly with it. I mostly just get it out and look at how pretty it is lol, but occasionally break them out and make a baby card.   The very oldest is the quilling papers which I used to weave a background. I've woven a few in the past in different colours, it's a lot of fun. The card blanks I used to make my easel cards is probably just as old too. I used to buy them when I was first cardmaking....then I discovered sheets of card stock. The blanks usually get cut up now.

A few close ups of the details.

Oh Baby, Baby!! ...& A New Challenge Blog

Cooking, Camping & Crafting is planning to start challenges from mid March. So....she's looking for all kinds of  crafters to join her Design Team - as she says herself a well rounded group of people....Including card makers, scrapbookers, altered items etc. This card is my application, if you'd like an opportunity to join her team you'll find the details here

My card is destined for a couple who are expecting their second son next month. Their first is six now and they didn't think they'd be able to have any more...so you can imagine how happy they are. I've used so many things I love on this, papers from my favourite collection, my new dies, the adorable image from Sugar Nellie, the sketch from Skipping Stones Designs (I'm so in love with this sketch I feel I may never use another ) and, last but not least my crocheted flowers - my latest obsession. I really enjoyed making the crocheted 'ribbon' to decorate my tag, and scattered a few pearls about too.

Promarkers used -  Powder & Denim Blue, Canary Yellow & Mustard on the hat. For his skin - Tan, Oatmeal, Blush & Almond. They were as close to those Trina used as I had in my stash.

I actually love this card so much that I'm going to have to make a few variations of it if I've any hope of parting with it when the time comes lol.

I have to give a shout out to Mina and Trina both who coloured this image beautifully and I used as my guide to (hopefully) do it justice.
