Amber's Crafts & Stuff #11 Vintage

This week at Amber's the theme is Vintage, so if you have any project with an old fashioned or vintage theme, pop over and join us here . We don't have a sponsor this week but the winner gets a badge to desplay - love getting a badge, don't you - and their name will be put into the monthly draw for a gift. They will also be invited to be a Guest Designer.

I made a set of ATC's. I didn't go for distress, just a vintage feel. I wanted them to look like pages from a photo album so I chose pictures that I felt could pass of the kids at different ages. I've used printable papers and some little sticker frames which have been in my stash for ages. The Lacey Frame above is just photoshoped and not part of the ATC.

All you have to do now is hop over to Ambers Crafts and Stuff and see what the Design Team have been up to...before entering your own project, we'd love you to join us.

The Shape of Things to Come.

It isn't really the shape of things to come of course but I couldn't think of another title for my shaped card. Don't be surprised if you see a lot of paper piecing in the future ...I'm slightly obsessed again. I won this Digi recently at Happileigh Scrapin. As soon as I saw this little birdhouse I thought shaped card, and paper piecing. It was a dream to paper piece. I did a little shading with vanilla promaker and cut a flower from scraps of the paper....each of these little roses are quicker and easier to make...well the say practice makes....I'll get to perfect eventually lol.  (A wink to my sisters here).

This card will be going off to my swap partner before the end of the month, but I'll be making another for myself I'm sure.

A close up on the rose.

Amber's Crafts & Stuff #10 Cats & Dogs.

This week Amber has asked us to make something with our Furry Friends in mind. I crocheted this fish toy  for my daughters cat. She hasn't been well enough to have him in her room for a cuddle for quite some time and they miss each other. If he finds an item of her clothing in the laundry (if I leave it unguarded after sorting to wash lol) he will drag it out and lie on it. Before we gave this to him, she cuddled it to get her scent on it for him.

It's originally an idea I had for a soap saver for my grandson - I left this one open too so I can stuff it with cat nip (when it arrives through the post). At the moment it has a little bag of wadding inside a lovely noisy scrunchie celophane bag - another thing he delights in.

Here's a few pix of him 'delighting' in his new toy. Taken with my phone so not good....as usual lol.

So the idea is to make anything you like with your furbaby in mind...scrapbook page, toy, or whatever you like with a dog or cat image on it somewhere, then pop over to join in the challenge here. You'll find more inspiration from the rest of this weeks design team.

Some challenges I hope will accept me. ..

I Got A Round Tuit In A Krafty Way.

Every time a see an image coloured on Kraft I say 'I really must get round tuit'. Well now I have. It's been a long haul though lol. Annemaritta  kindly sent me the Kraft Card-stock, but it was a while before I got further than occasionally looking at the images I'd printed on it. When I did start colouring I found it frustrating - I don't have prisma colour pencils and mine are perhaps just not soft enough. Then a couple of days ago 'the penny dropped' and I realised that I'd get that nice pastel pencils look people talk about....if I used my pastel pencils. It was a pleasure to colour and I even had a go at a sky background at last (another round tuit ticked off). For a great sky background tute see Dorcas' here

I used some old ready creased cardstock in blue and cut it with a large Go Kreate scalloped Circle, cut a smaller circle in peach. I cut some fancy corner from scraps of the blue cardstock to sit behind the Image. I cut a little banner from printed ribbon, and added gems, a bow and a cute little giraffe holding a blankie button.

Tall Baby Card.

My neice was a tall baby, but that's another story lol. This started as a white on white card. The stamps are small though and you couldn't see them too well embossed in white. I rubbed over them with pink shimmery chalk, also outlined the card with a slightly deeper shade of pink shimmer chalk. Sorry the images are still so awful ....I promise it looks much better in person.

The dots are made with a glitter paste, quite thick so leaves a good raised blob, they are blobbed onto white mulberry paper. The aperture card has been sitting in my stash for many years. I do like them but rarely use pre-creased cards now. I added three little stick on pearls along the top and bottom edge.

CAS White On White.

Sorry about the atrocious pictures, I may have to sack my photographer lol. Less is More this week wants White on White. Considering that is what I did last week, I should have found this easy. Just couldn't decide what to do....and got too many supplies and ideas in my noggin (head for those who don't know lol). This one has a strip of lace with seed beads and a die cut with Mr & Mrs stamped and embossed. There are some little chiffon flowers with beaded stamen centres sitting  behind the die-cut.

I'm not a good stamper, not having much strength, but now I'm no longer bedridden and can get a bit of leverage by standing up...I'm giving it another try.

Hope you can see the sentiment a little better here.

A Few Challenges...
My Mum's Craft shop -  Use Dies
Paper Take Weekly - Punches Or Die-Cuts
Less Is More - C5, must be CAS -  White on White

This second card has a wedding cake stamped and embossed. I cut it out to lay it over the top of the doily lace and ribbons trim. A chiffon ribbon with a narrow satin ribbon overlayed. I made my rose from white cardstock and gave it a little flourish to finish off.
Have to make up my mind which one to enter now.
I also have a white on white baby card half way made lol.

And a Couple for This Card .....
Stampavie and More - Ribbons
Woodware USA - Wedding or/Anniversary

Ambers Crafts & Stuff #9 Reduce, Re-use, recycle.

At Amber's Crafts & Stuff this week we are looking for a Recycled item on your projects. This is the Postal Package I used to make a notelet case for a friend.
I cut two pieces of card, the full size of the box, and sandwiched the left hand flap between them. After covering the inside, I glued the right hand flap down to create a 'pocket'.

The purple material covering the top is also recycled...it was lining a box that a crystal vase came in, and the flowers are from various flower arrangements. Her favourite colours are purple, blue and orange, so I was pleased I managed to fit all three into this.

I've edged it with pale lilac satin ribbon, adding small blue gems to the corners. A wide piece of lace across the center and of course the huge spray of flowers.

A couple of shots of the inside

The Notelets
I printed out half a dozen images onto a5 cardstock and folded them to make the notelets. Three female, three that could be used for males. They are all detailed images that work really well just in black and white. I've printed two of each and they are as follows ...

Court Shoe - Jak Heath Designs, Katie's Love Swing - Make it crafty (both from Help for Katie)
Insight - Card Mad Fairy
Autumn Oak - Arthurs Clip Art
A Cottage Scene & The Mill - Digital Two For Tuesday.

This was a really fun challenge...and who doesn't like creating something from next to nothing. The rest of the team have some great projects to show you, pop over and see them for some inspiration and join us in the challenge this week.

Felted Hummingbird #2 And Freebe Medallion

As you can see, I've finished the second hummingbird for my daughter. I don't know if there are any these colours...but I took a little artistic licence as she likes turquoise, and I seem to have it 'in my eye' at the moment, if you know what I mean. Can't get enough of it. I feel I've manage to shape this one a little better, her body (she is called Hetta) is shaped better and her wings are more defined. See....practice ..practice...practice.
I managed to do a little better with her body shaping and defined the wing scallops a little more this time.

I'd like to enter her in ...
Charisma Cardz - No cards allowed

Heres another Medallion to reward you for indulging me by popping over to see our new addition. Hope you enjoy. CAS Congratulations

My son in law wanted a wedding congratulations card for a work friend - isn't CAS perfect when you are only given a couple of days notice to make something classy.  It looks better in person...we always say that, but it does lol. My cardstock is Linen textured in a white pearl. I cut lacey borders along both edges of an off cut of the card, wrapped sheer white ribbon and some silver twine around it before putting it on the card..slightly raised with glue gel. I added a little dangly wedding rings charm to it, to give it that weddingly feel and a sticker saying Congratulations. Everything is from stash.

I'd like to enter the following ..
Less is more - Thank you Or Congratulations
Digistamps 4 Joy - Celebration
Cupcake Craft - Something beginning with C (CAS)
Die Cut Dreams - Wedding
Incy Wincy Designs - I Do

Ambers Crafts & Stuff #8 For A Special Lady & #3 Tuit

This week our Sponsor is DZ Doodles. We've been given some great images to play with and I chose this one. I have to admit this was a last minute job for me. My Special Lady Project is the Hummingbird below which I felted for my Daughter. However, I was delighted to also have this little cutie and made the card using some of my daughters favourite colours.

This is my first Twisted Easel, and I've used two complete A4 Sheets of textured cardstock. The cardstock left over from making the card base has been turned into the lacey flutterby and paper lace edging. I put satin purple ribbon down and layered the paper lace on top. On the Easel base I threaded a lilac narrow ribbon through a die cut border. My buckle is also a die cut, and I have glued a few gems along the paper lace and sentiment.

 Receipe ..
Image - DZ Doodles
 Colourants - Promarkers
Die cut's - Nestie wonkie squares & Marianne Designs Creatables
Cardstock, gems, ribbons - Stash

My Special Lady is my daughter 'Pea'.  Until a few months ago she was too ill to do more than lie quiet with her eyes closed most of the time, and virtually unable to speak. She is still unable to do more than the tiniest things for herself, but at least able to chat a little and have interest in things around her.

When she is well enough she would like to have some birds, Rainbow Finch would be her first choice but as they are difficult to keep for a beginner she will start with good old Zebra Finches. Until that day arrives I'm going to gradually give her an 'aviary' of felted birds. This Hummingbird is the first of those, and she has him (Henry) hanging beside her bed.

As I was making him in secret I have only been able to spend a little over an hour a day on him...half hour in my afternoon rest period and a little longer at bedtime. It's a time consuming hobby - one wing can take 2 - 3 hours. Was worth it to see the big grin on her face when I gave it to her. She has him...named Henry...hanging beside her bed. Others will eventually follower to add to her 'aviary'.

This little fella is also my Get A Round Tuit Project #3, I've had the kit sitting in my room for two years - it has enough for two hummers and number two is already started.
