gift box/ Dawns BCA Challenge

You still have one more week to enter the Challenge Dawn is running for Breast Cancer awareness, and because of her Mom who has been fighting this past eighteen month. You can enter the Challenge here and catch up with her final update here. She also has links for you to donate if you wish.

This is the gift box I've made to go with the crocheted, and other handmade items I'm giving as one of the prizes for her challenge. It is inspired by the boxes that Linda of Creative Harmony makes for her fancy pins.....you can see her tutorial here

All in the Pink For Dawn's BCA Challenge

The Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge at Dawn's Crafting runs until 29th Sept, so you've still plenty of time to make an entry for a chance to win one of the prizes, Sponsors listed below. You can read all about why she is hosting this challenge, I'm sure you'll agree it's a very worthwhile cause, and it's very personal to her. You'll find Dawn's post showing her having her head shaved, and more GDT projects here, and her most recent update, with stunning inspiration here. She has a Just Giving Page if you'd like to donote.

The Challenge is Breast Cancer Awareness, or Think Pink, and there is a sister challenge with the same theme over at The Crafty Pad....with a whole different list of sponsors.

And now the Sponsors for Dawn's Challenge. I have added this cute mini crocheted pink hand bag charm...my very first Thread-bear, to the box of crocheted lace and fimo embellishments. As you can see she is dressed up for a day out. My hooky thingy is from Bead's Direct, as is the heart Hand Made By charm. My yarn is from Purple Linda, and the ribbon is stash.

Made using pattern download from Amazon, many cute thread-bears to chose from. The one here is a bear called Bombon. I used ticket #20 Crochet yarn and 1.25mm hook. 3mm black beads for eyes and embroidery floss for details.

To find out exactly what each is offering, and a chance to win, go to Dawn's Crafting

Almost Ivory

My second entry to the challenge at Creative Harmony, this time (hopefully you can tell) I've made a tag, and it's ivory...mostly. I embossed yellow card with a bee design (cuttlebug, on loan from a friend), then heat embossed the raised part with clear powder. My flower stack is prima, with black card candy as it's centre. My die cuts are Marianne Designs. The sentiment is handwritten, ribbon is very old stash, and the bee is the last of my cute little bee button....I wish I could remember where I had them from : (

If you'd like to join in, there is still time...below is copied and pasted from Linda's post. There is wonderful candy on offer for the winner.

CHARACTERISTICS

1.  The theme is  'Almost White' with your base card in white or ivory.
2.  No more than two other colours, one of which should only be a very small amount.
3.   You can make any papercraft item(s)
4.  You may enter up to twice only but they must be different and one item must be a card or tag.
5.  All entries must be linked to Linda's blog by the closing date of Sunday 23rd September.

GDT for Dawn's Crafting BCA Challenge

I first saw these bikini cards on Dorcas's Blog, you can find her post here. I made my own template, but you can find one at StampOwl's Studio here. I've actually made mine as fancy underwear, don't think the diamante would survive a dip in the ocean really.

A slight error, my daughter pointed out to me, on the back which should read I'm, and not In right behind you...whatever that might mean. I'll change it before sending it...if I remember lol.

As the heading says, this is for the Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge at Dawn's Crafting. Dawn's Mom has been fighting a tough battle against Breast Cancer for the last 18ths. Please pop over to her post to read more, see details for entering, see the many, many wonderful prizes on offer, and see the inspiration from her team.

As you can see, I made a second version. The card above I used a shimmery pink cardstock from stash, the one below is white and coloured and shaded with chalk inks. On both my lace is paper (from ACE catalogue), and the DP's are  papermania. Gems and ribbon bows are stash and my sentiments are hand written with sakura gel pen.

I'd like to enter this for the Catered Crop - Pink Challenge

It's all Digital

This is my first entry to a completely digital challenge. It for a brand new Challenge Blog called Digitally 'Sweet' Challenge, and I was so delighted to see it starting. I'm not too good with the My Memories Suite (V3) so I've not been using it much lately...not for scrap layouts at least. When I came to look back on the pages I'd already made, I liked them a little better. I'm hoping to improve with seeing the inspiration from the DT. This is one using pix of my grandson from a few years ago.

In order to do this blog page I had to contact Karen, one of the blog founders, in order to find out how to turn my page into jpeg, she very kindly explained, thanks Karen for your help.

Stepping in Almost White

A Card made for the Almost White challenge at Creative Harmony. The Base Cardstock has to be white or ivory, no more than two other colours, using very little of one of those. You are allowed to enter twice, any kind of papercrafts,  but one entry must be a card or a tag. You have until 23rd of September to enter for a chance to win the great prizes she has on offer.

This is my first attempt at a Side Step Dresser card. I've seen them around blogland a few times and liked them, but was inspired by Bab's Baby Shower Dresser Card to give it a go- it was quick, easy and a lot of fun. I followed the YouTube Tutorial to make this, you can find it HERE

She also has some great pictures of the Sock Monkey Baby Shower they held, and a Diaper Bike (new to me), if anyone looking for Baby Shower inspiration.

Sorry the pix aren't up to much again, above is photo Hubby took, the two below are scanned. I used pearlized white cardstock, I think, Bazzil. The 'hanger', 'door handles', and name plaque are chipboard pieces (Papermania) coloured with versamagic chalk inks. I've used a headpin with pearl bead as the wire for the 'hanger'. The pink card is recycled from the back of an old card, is pretty shimmery, pearled. The lace and bow are stash and the stickers were painted white with acrylic paint.

Dawns Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge.

Dawn Lancaster, one of my amazing teamies at Feline Playful is running a challenge, starting today, for Breast Cancer Awareness. Ends 29th Sept. I'm sure you'll agree it's a great cause, there are few of us who have not had our lives touched by this disease, if not ourselves, then a family member or friend. I lost a friend two years ago because of it, and have a male friend who is fighting it right now.

Dawn is doing this in dedication of her Mom who has been fighting Breast Cancer for the last 18mths, she has lost her hair....and in aid of charity Dawn will be having her hair shaved on the 8th. Her Challenge is simply Breast Cancer Awareness and/or Think Pink....not a little, use a lot. There is also information on donating to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

I'm sponsoring the challenge with a few bits of my handmade items...one little extra not shown in this post, because shes not finished yet. Besides my little offering, there are some very wonderful prizes, A Goodie bag from Joanna Sheen, $40 gift voucher from Saturated Canary....there are another 7 sponsors besides. It's well worth taking part.

Please go to Dawns Blog to hear all the details of why she's doing this; see all the prizes on offer; details on joining the challenge; and look at the inspiration from the team she's gathered together for this.

There are 3 pieces of each colour lace, plus the pink and white trim; a crocheted doily in each colour and fimo flowers, in matching colours, extras such as keys, buttons and little dragonflies. Also a few crocheted flowers and ribbon flowers.
 A couple of close ups.

Hop over to Dawn's Blog and join the CHALLENGE.
