Ambers Crafts & Stuff #8 For A Special Lady & #3 Tuit

This week our Sponsor is DZ Doodles. We've been given some great images to play with and I chose this one. I have to admit this was a last minute job for me. My Special Lady Project is the Hummingbird below which I felted for my Daughter. However, I was delighted to also have this little cutie and made the card using some of my daughters favourite colours.

This is my first Twisted Easel, and I've used two complete A4 Sheets of textured cardstock. The cardstock left over from making the card base has been turned into the lacey flutterby and paper lace edging. I put satin purple ribbon down and layered the paper lace on top. On the Easel base I threaded a lilac narrow ribbon through a die cut border. My buckle is also a die cut, and I have glued a few gems along the paper lace and sentiment.

 Colourants - Promarkers
Die cut's - Nestie wonkie squares & Marianne Designs Creatables
Cardstock, gems, ribbons - Stash

My Special Lady is my daughter 'Pea'.  Until a few months ago she was too ill to do more than lie quiet with her eyes closed most of the time, and virtually unable to speak. She is still unable to do more than the tiniest things for herself, but at least able to chat a little and have interest in things around her.

When she is well enough she would like to have some birds, Rainbow Finch would be her first choice but as they are difficult to keep for a beginner she will start with good old Zebra Finches. Until that day arrives I'm going to gradually give her an 'aviary' of felted birds. This Hummingbird is the first of those, and she has him (Henry) hanging beside her bed.

As I was making him in secret I have only been able to spend a little over an hour a day on him...half hour in my afternoon rest period and a little longer at bedtime. It's a time consuming hobby - one wing can take 2 - 3 hours. Was worth it to see the big grin on her face when I gave it to her. She has him...named Henry...hanging beside her bed. Others will eventually follower to add to her 'aviary'.

This little fella is also my Get A Round Tuit Project #3, I've had the kit sitting in my room for two years - it has enough for two hummers and number two is already started.

Linda your card and hummingbird are beautiful. You did an awesome on both. I would never have known that you didn't buy the humming bird! I love all of the dies you've used on your card. The butterfly is especially lovely. I was able to get some dies myself as a gift from a new friend, and I'm using them on some of my next cards. Hugs, dj

Hi Linda!
:) I finally managed to hop by... I am getting more used to being a "mommy" so I can start doing "my stuff" again :) bit by bit.
Your card is amazing! You're so good with making all kinds of folds and they end up being perfect every time.
WOW! Needlefelting! That humming bird looks amazing! I could swear you're an expert :). I know how time consuming it is...that's why I'm afraid to "try" it.
Glad to hear your "Special Lady" is doing better... All the best to you and your family!

Hugs,
Laura
